A Few Pics from the Berkshire Motor Show – And a Potential Domestic Crisis

Sunday saw the Meadery delegation venture forth to the Berkshire Motor Show, a gathering of chrome, horsepower and polished paintwork. A splendid day was had by all, with an impressive selection of classic and modern cars - enough to make a Saxon warrior seriously reconsider the horse.
There were some truly magnificent machines on display. The sort of vehicles that make you nod appreciatively while quietly calculating how many barrels of mead would need to be sold to fund the insurance premium alone.
Naturally, it wasn't long before Mrs Mead identified our next vehicle. Not a practical estate car. Not a sensible van. Not even something capable of carrying supplies to a reenactment event. No. Mrs Mead immediately fell in love with The Bumble Bee – a gloriously yellow beast that apparently ticks all the important boxes of vehicle ownership, namely:
• It looks fabulous.
• It is yellow.
• It is called The Bumble Bee.
• Did we mention it is yellow?
Meanwhile, Mr Mead, burdened by the curse of practicality, found himself asking tedious questions such as:
"Where exactly is the gazebo going?"
"What about the tables?"
"And more importantly, where will my beloved Saxon flag fit?"
These concerns were met with the sort of look normally reserved for people who suggest putting water in mead. According to Mrs Mead, such details are "minor obstacles" and can be solved later. Mr Mead remains unconvinced.
After all, a vehicle may look magnificent parked outside an event, but unless it can transport a gazebo, banners, boxes, stock, chairs, emergency supplies, three bags of things nobody remembers packing, and a flag large enough to be seen from Mercia, is it really suitable for Meadery operations?
The debate continues.
Still, it was a fantastic day out and well worth the visit. Many thanks to the organisers and everyone who brought along their pride and joy for us all to admire.
